1. Description of the challenge

This challenge is part of the larger hackathon: Advanced technology & Industrial innovation (high tech systems & engineering, chemicals & materials, energy transition).

The challenge focuses on developing strategies for the production and export of hydrogen within an offshore wind turbine park with a total capacity of 2GW. Hydrogen production will take place on an offshore platform using a PEM (Proton Exchange Membrane) electrolyzer system, chosen for its compact footprint and efficiency. The produced hydrogen will be exported to the shore via a pipeline of at least 150 km. Various development options will be explored, including centralized and decentralized hydrogen production within the park. Factors such as weight, CAPEX, maintenance philosophy, and project scheduling will be analyzed to determine the optimal strategy.

2. Expected outcome

Determine the most efficient, cost-effective strategy for offshore hydrogen production and export, addressing technical and economic factors.
