1. Description of the challenge

Do you want to apply your technical knowledge on a concrete problem? Help us develop a solution to detect defective products and reduce waste.

NPROXX develops and manufactures pressure vessels to store hydrogen under high pressure. These pressure vessels have a reinforcing layer made of carbon fibers embedded in a epoxy resin. The carbon fibers are wound onto an inner liner, which acts as a winding core. The polymeric liner is manufactured via blowforming and often present defects on its inner surface.

Currently, the liner defects are often detected at the end of the production process, once a large amount of expensive carbon fibre has been wound onto the liner. This results in large amount of wasted material and delivery delays.

2. Expected outcome

We are looking for a simple non-destructive test to control the quality of the liners before winding.

About NPROXX

NPROXX is a global leader in designing, developing and manufacturing Type 4 pressure vessels for the storage of hydrogen under high pressure. We believe that the role of hydrogen is going to grow massively in the coming years. Already today our products are helping our customers to deliver clean and efficient energy solutions.
