Traffic & More is a company that specializes in temporary road closures. Our goal is to take an extra step in designing road closures to enhance the safety of both road workers and road users. Additionally, we are actively developing new technical innovations in road closures and work zone layouts.
Planning a temporary road closure involves several equally important phases. During the In-House day, we will use the GVO project as an example. One phase of the GVO project entails closing the A12 from Gouda to The Hague. While this may sound straightforward, the closure requires months of planning, preparation, and analysis. Traffic & More employs self-developed techniques such as STAN, dry navigation, and data analysis to enhance safety and improve traffic flow during the closure. Throughout the day, you will learn how we structure the planning and execution of large highway closures. We will also introduce you to the new innovations being developed in our office. You will have the opportunity to discover how technical innovations can help a company address the challenges it faces. With the challenge we will give you, you will not only learn how to improve a company's processes but also how to think about a problem where a digital system is desirable, yet its implementation can be problematic because people want to minimize administrative work.
The challenge we have for you is as follows. Our process relies on mechanics to set up our materials. When these technicians leave with the materials, we can't follow them or check from a distance if the material is placed or recovered. Therefore, we want to explore this aspect of our process with you. We aim to investigate how new technologies can make this part of the road closure process more transparent for us while keeping in mind that mechanics prefer to focus on placing signs rather than on administrative details.
