Brabant Water is looking for an innovative, data driven solution to make invisible water losses at festivals measurable, understandable and controllable. Research shows that pipe flushing water, required for legionella prevention in temporary festival infrastructure, can account for more than 50% of total drinking water consumption. Although this water use is essential for public health and safety, it is currently difficult to measure and is hardly managed in a data driven way. With growing pressure on drinking water availability, Brabant Water wants to use smart measurement, digitalisation and data driven control to reduce this hidden water loss. The challenge is to develop a solution that helps shift from fixed rules to predictive and adaptive management of temporary water networks, without compromising drinking water safety, and with measurable water reduction as the main goal.
The desired outcome is a concrete innovation concept that shows how invisible water losses caused by pipe flushing in temporary festival infrastructure can be made visible, measurable and controllable through smart measurement, digitalisation and data driven control. The concept should clearly explain how it contributes to reducing drinking water use, where these savings occur, how they can be measured, and how the solution could be scaled across multiple festivals. Water reduction should be treated as a core KPI, not as a side effect, while drinking water safety and legionella prevention must always remain guaranteed. Within one day, teams are expected to deliver a concept including a description of the solution, a high level data architecture, control and decision logic, the expected water savings and value for Brabant Water and festival organisers, and a visual representation such as a dashboard, system diagram or data flow. The final result should be presented in the form of a clear and convincing elevator pitch.
