1. Description of the challenge
How can we prevent the electricity grid in upcoming urban areas from overloading? The Energy Transition Campus Amsterdam (ETCA) is in an area where grid congestion is real. An inconvenient truth for more and more areas as the demand for electricity is increasing. ETCA’s infrastructure can act as a testing ground for new innovations focused on balancing the increasing electricity supply. The learnings can be applied in similar areas elsewhere. In this way, ETCA wants to help facilitate the search for smart solutions, either technical or possibly focused on behavioral change.
2. Expected outcome

ETCA’s infrastructure can act as a testing ground for new innovations focused on balancing the increasing electricity supply. The learnings can be applied in similar areas elsewhere. In this way, ETCA wants to help facilitate the search for smart solutions. Do you have an idea for this challenge? Join us on the northern banks of the IJ-river on June 1st and pitch your idea to experts from the City of Amsterdam, the Province of North-Holland, Alliander, Shell and ETCA. Together we can make a difference. There might be pizza too.
