We are looking for ways to improve our sustainability performance. This performance is measured with a life cycle assessment (LCA), from which we derive a Environmental Cost Indicator (ECI; Dutch = MKI). The ECI is a way to measure sustainability performance across different indicators (for example: CO2 eq. emissions and particulate matter). These indicators are converted into a 1 single sustainability score, which is the ECI. The lower the ECI the better.
Concrete is responsible for 7-9% of CO2 emissions annually. It is a durable and versatile material, which is why it is broadly used. SVI takes on the challenge of reducing the carbon footprint of concrete. We believe this contributes to fighting the climate crisis.
We want to discover 1 or more solution directions that we had not thought of ourselves. These directions can become practice in the period after the hackathon.
