Mobility in and around Eindhoven is, and will increasingly become, a major "challenge."
We face several challenges for which we are also seeking solutions from the healthcare sector. These challenges include:
- Zero-emission zones in Eindhoven
- Parking issues
- CO2 reduction targets, including the Work-Related Personal Mobility Act
- Traffic congestion (mobility stress)
- Promoting health (less fine particulate matter, encouraging physical activity, stress relief in the outdoors)
For the healthcare sector, some aspects have already been investigated, and we see the following opportunities and challenges:
- 24/7 healthcare provision in relation to the availability of public transport
- 24/7 healthcare in relation to safety during evening and night shifts, especially given that approximately 95% of employees are women
- Many passenger transport vehicles (vans) remain unused in the evenings and at night. These vehicles are used during the day to pick up clients—why not also deploy them in the evening?
- The timing of evening and night shifts align reasonably well
- Healthcare organizations in Eindhoven collectively cover almost the entire city geographically
- Ideas such as a healthcare evening/night bus
- Use of hubs
- Park & Ride (P&R) solutions
How could mobility for (healthcare workers) in and around Eindhoven look between 2025 and 2030, taking the above principles into account?
Mobility in the Eindhoven Healthcare Sector - SDG Challenge 25/26
Description of the challenge
Mobility in and around Eindhoven is, and will increasingly become, a major "challenge."
We face several challenges for which we are also seeking solutions from the healthcare sector. These challenges include:
- Zero-emission zones in Eindhoven
- Parking issues
- CO2 reduction targets, including the Work-Related Personal Mobility Act
- Traffic congestion (mobility stress)
- Promoting health (less fine particulate matter, encouraging physical activity, stress relief in the outdoors)
For the healthcare sector, some aspects have already been investigated, and we see the following opportunities and challenges: - 24/7 healthcare provision in relation to the availability of public transport
What is needed to motivate healthcare workers to make the most environmentally friendly/sustainable choice for their daily commute, taking the above mentioned in consideration?
