1. Description of the challenge

This challenge is part of the larger hackathon: Advanced technology & Industrial innovation (high tech systems & engineering, chemicals & materials, energy transition). 

Our pressure vessels consist of an inner polyethylene liner wrapped in a carbon fiber laminate. Upon delivery, the liners arrive in cardboard boxes and are stored vertically. To begin the assembly process, shop floor operators must lift the liners from the boxes, rotate them, and position them horizontally on the workbench. Given the size and weight of the liners (0.5m x 2m, 20 kg), there are safety risks during handling.

The challenge is to design an easy-to-use, ergonomic solution to make this process safer and more efficient, either by proposing a tool, equipment, or process improvement. 

2. Expected outcome

A successful solution will directly reduce safety risks for operators and improve workflow efficiency, making a tangible difference in day-to-day operations.
