Recently, eight companies within the Innovus Smart Engineering Group have continued under one name: Movares I Smart Urban Engineering.
Through this bundling of forces, a strong player emerges, focused on spatial and infrastructural development with a clear ambition: to secure a permanent place in the top 3 in the Netherlands as a leading partner in innovative and sustainable solutions for a future-proof country. The eight companies – Movares, Movares Water, BRO (Spatial Planning Consultants), MUG Ingenieursbureau, Ingenieursburo Ulehake, Zonneveld Ingenieurs, TRAJECT (Advisors and Managers), and B&Z Bouwtechniek – will discontinue their individual names as of July 1, 2025, and move forward together under the brand Movares Smart Urban Engineering.
With approximately 1,500 employees and annual revenue exceeding EUR 200 million, this integration makes Movares I Smart Urban Engineering a powerful and versatile player ready to tackle todays and tomorrow’s societal and infrastructural challenges. By continuing as Movares I Smart Urban Engineering, the company responds directly to key themes such as sustainability and smart technology.
The Netherlands faces major societal and spatial challenges, such as the climate change, urbanization, energy transition. These challenges affect us all and demand a completely different approach.
If we continue doing things the way we always have, we won't be prepared for tomorrow.
Things must be smarter, faster, more sustainable, and more effective. Movares I Smart Urban Engineering works on future-oriented solutions in areas such as planning and decision-making, energy infrastructure and water, railways and buildings, in short sustainable solutions that shape the world of today and tomorrow:
We lead the next generation of infrastructure.
"Smart Urban Engineering"
“We must organize knowledge and capacity in a smarter way if we want to find answers to major societal issues. We apply our innovation power so the energy transition can continue, our mobility system doesn't grind to a halt, our living spaces remain livable, and we continue to pursue sustainability.”
Sustainability is not an option for us — it’s a mission.
It has long been woven into the fabric of our operations. We are the engineering firm with the lowest CO2 footprint per employee, and we have been CO2-neutral since 2010.
In addition, we are the first organization in the Netherlands to achieve the Zero Waste certificate and take our Social Return on Investment (SROI) responsibilities seriously.
But our greatest impact lies in collaboration — with our clients and partners. By implementing sustainable partnerships programmatically, we strive for greater sustainable impact.
Together, we make the difference!
How can we make the "added value" of climate-adaptive and climate-mitigating solutions in built environment (cities and neighbourhoods) in the Netherlands measurable and visible—using real SDG 13 (Climate Action: urges immediate global efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, integrate climate planning into policies, build societal resilience against climate-related hazards) indicators like heat stress, flooding, drought and water nuisance?
